Introduction

Introduction:

 

  • This course complies with the IMO model course 1.13.
  • Elementary First Aid (EFA) is designed to form part of the minimum basic safety training for seafarers. The aim of this EFA course is to give all persons intending to go to sea a basic knowledge of the immediate action to be taken upon encountering an accident or other medical emergencies at sea.
  • This course covers the basic requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention Chapter VI, Section A-VI/1, Table A-VI/1-3.On meeting the minimum standard of competence in Elementary First Aid, a trainee will be competent to take immediate action upon encountering an accident or medical emergency until the arrival of the person with proper medical facilities.
